Aburi Botanical Gardens was established in 1890 in the cooler Akwapim Hills, about 30 km north of Accra. Shaded paths, towering palms, and open lawns make it a favourite for families, picnics, and weekend retreats from the city heat.
Highlights include the wide allee of royal palms, historic superintendent's bungalow, and seasonal flowering beds. The gardens are compact — allow 1–2 hours for a relaxed walk, longer if you're picnicking or photographing.
